The Holbrook Chamber of Commerce recently partnered with the Holbrook Beautification Committee in another Community Clean-up Day this past October 25th. We had a great turnout from all segments of our community. Well over 100 dedicated volunteers came out and collected an enourmous amount of garbage and litter from the town. We were especially happy to see our young scouting members actively participating and learning the importance of keeping our community free of litter and debris. If you or your organization would like to get involved in the next Clean-up day in the spring, please contact the Chamber and we'll send you a reminder when we have the date scheduled.
At our October member's meeting we hosted a special 'meet the candidates' session to bring together the various incumbants and challengers for the 2014 election races in our area. The candidates were afforded the chance to introduce their platforms and inform our members on their plans if elected to serve in office. The session included the candidates for U.S. Congress; Tim Bishop & Lee Zeldin, candidates for NYS Senate; Tom Croci & Adrienne Esposito, and candidate for NYS Assembly; Al Graf.
Now that school is open again in our communities we need to be extra careful when driving. The increased traffic on our roadways and the shortening of daylight hours creates the need to be more focused and attentive. New York State has produced a Driver's Manual that, in addition to providing basic processes for obtaining a license in the state, provides safety tips and rules of the road reminders. It's a great reference to have a hand and is especially valuable for our younger drivers. The Chamber has made this handbook available directly to our community.
