President’s Letter – February 2015
I trust everyone has been weathering the winter weather just fine. It was truly encouraging and assuring to witness our state and local governments handling the blizzard in both a highly and very responsive manner. While I am sure there were some exceptions overall feedback was positive with respect to the plowing and sanding of our roads. Apparently, everyone learned and corrected the lack of communication and execution that occurred with our last major storm back in February 2013.
As we deal with the cold and snow, the Chamber looks forward to another spring of beautification and maintenance. We do hope both our residents and business owners appreciate the plantings and landscaping the Chamber maintains along the northern corridor of Patchogue/Holbrook Rd. That area really sets the tone for how proud and well-kept the Holbrook community is. Thanks to the loyal support of our members the chamber can continue on its mission of making Holbrook a better place for all.
Later this month, Valentine’s Day will be upon us, please don’t forget that special someone in your life. Additionally, don’t forget to keep your heart and honey in Holbrook. The Our Place Newspaper has created a beautiful guide specifically for your entire Valentine’s Day needs. Please refer to it and by all means utilize our members whether ordering flowers, picking up cards and candy or making dinner reservations. You truly can do it all right here in Holbrook and make it a home is where the heart is holiday. I Love Holbrook and you should too.
In closing, please be safe and take precaution with any ice and or snow as we get through the balance of the winter. It’s times like these that I start to think about our annual summer free concert with the County and Legislator Lindsay over at the Holbrook Country Club. I also like to start looking forward to our annual carnival. I can smell those sausage and peppers right now. Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day and don’t forget to keep it local our businesses depend on you.
All the Best Always,
Rick Ammirati, President
Holbrook Chamber of Commerce
