President’s Letter – June 2016
Welcome to the beautiful weather many of us have been longing for. As I have mentioned many times in our monthly column, Long Island is the place to be when it comes to summertime. We host some of the greatest beaches in the world and between Fire Island, the Northshore and Montauk you can’t go wrong. We have great boating and fishing along with a world class selection of seafood right in our very own backyards. The older I grow the more I love living on the island.
The chamber is currently working on another great local summer event and that is our Annual Carnival and Craft Fair. Our committee is already putting together what promises to be four days of spectacular fun and live entertainment inclusive of two nights of fabulous fireworks. The Carnival will run from Thursday evening August 11th through Sunday August 14th.Plug the dates onto those wall calendars and into your phones as you won’t want to miss it.
Late last month we had our semi-annual Holbrook Beautification Cleanup-up Day. Special thanks to all who participated and volunteered their Saturday morning to help make a difference for Holbrook. We would also like to especially thank Legislator Lindsay’s office for coordinating and facilitating the event. Thank you Brian, Jenn and Steve for your efforts on cleanup-up day. As always the town looked great when the work was completed.
At this time, the chamber is still awaiting an update from the State D.O.T. on the status of the Exit 61 Route 495 Bridge Repair Project. It is our understanding that this project has experienced two setbacks due to vehicles accidentally hitting a section of the bridge on two separate occasions. This has caused an increased delay in completing the much needed repairs and reinforcing. The anticipated completion is scheduled for the fall and we expect to have a more detailed report when the next President’s column is written.
In closing, Happy Father’s Day to all of our Dad’s and congratulations to all of our Grads!
All the Best Always,
Rick Ammirati, President
Holbrook Chamber of Commerce
