President’s Letter – January 2017
Happy New Year!
Welcome to 2017! Whew, what a quick year 2016 was. Just like that the year wrapped up before we knew it. Here’s to hoping 2017 is a brighter and better year for us all.
Many if not all of are looking forward to the bridge over the L.I.E finally being completed in 2017. Nobody expected that project to take as long as it has. Hopefully once it is done and fully open along with all the streetscape improvements it will be a nice enhancement as is the “Welcome to Holbrook” wall and berm area.
On behalf of the chamber, I would like to once again thank our good friends over at the Holbrook Fire Department for assisting us with the installation and subsequent removal of our holiday lights along Main St., Union and Grundy Avenues.
In addition to our holiday street decorations, the chamber also upgraded the lights on our Christmas tree on Main St. in the Irish Times/Oven Lovin/Maz Optical Center. Many commented the tree never looked so nice. The new LED lights gave our tree the appearance of a mini Rockefeller Center version. It doesn’t get any better than that.
As the chamber board looks forward to the New Year, we’re planning a number of great projects in addition to all of our annual cultural events highlighted with the fair in August. The chamber is very hopeful that we will see a few longtime plans for downtown improvements finally come to fruition in 2017. We will keep you posted throughout the next few months via this column, the website and of course at our monthly general meetings. See holbrookchamber.com for future dates/times & locations of our meetings. All business owner/managers as well as Civic Leaders are welcome to attend and check us out.
The New Year is also a good time to reevaluate your business and consider joining or rejoining the chamber if you’re not a current member. There are a lot of opportunities to make connections right here in the local Holbrook community.
In closing, once again sincerest wishes for a very healthy, prosperous and wonderful New Year!
All the Best Always,
Rick Ammirati, President
Holbrook Chamber of Commerce
