President’s Letter – December 2019

Season’s Greetings,

Well here we’re once again, the most busiest time of the year! Just like that the holidays are upon us and most everyone is hustling and bustling with gift shopping, making plans with family and friends and at the same time trying to stop and smell the Hollie.

On Sat December 7th, consider stopping down on Main St. (Irish Times Center) where we will have our annual holiday lighting, a visit from Santa on a Holbrook FD truck and then join our good friends from the Sachem Library for their holiday lighting over on Holbrook Rd. The festivities start at 4:30 PM and you won’t want to miss it.

On Sunday at 6 PM, 12/22 we will have our annual Menorah lighting at 1000 Main St. on the front grounds of the Coste Insurance Building. We will sing Hanukkah songs and celebrate with our dear friends from B’nai Israel Temple. This will be the first night of Hanukkah and a lovely way to kick-off this wonderful celebration of lights in Holbrook.

This holiday season, please consider keeping your business as local (Holbrook) as possible. We have so many amazing services from catering and dining to shopping for that special gift. Please refer to the Holbrook Chamber Member Directory pages in the Our Place Newspaper or on our website Holbrookchamber.com. The holidays are a good time to give back to our Holbrook Businesses as they loyally support the community and chamber events all year long.

The chamber is looking forward to an exciting 2020 New year as we enter a new decade. We look forward to continuing our sewers for Main St. and Union Ave initiative which will enable the community to consider how we can improve and expand the Business District.

Congratulations to our friends over at the Town of Islip as we look forward to working with Supervisor Carpenter, Islip Town Board and the entire Team in the coming year. Thanks to the Town, sidewalk and curb repairs at Main and Furrows will commence in the spring. We’re very excited for these much needed improvements.

The chamber would also like to congratulate Suffolk County Legislator Elect Anthony Picirillo who also grew up in Holbrook. We look forward to working with him and his staff on improving our downtown.

The chamber would like to thank our departing Legislator Bill Lindsay and his dedicated staff for all their services over the years. Both Bill and his dad who together were in office for nearly 20 yrs. did a lot to establish our community as one of the nicer places to live and do business in the county. We wish you well in your future endeavors.

In closing, on behalf of the chamber I would like to wish everyone a blessed Holiday Season and a very Happy and Healthy New Year!

Merry, Happy, Healthy Wishes!
