President’s Letter – January 2020

Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2020 not only a new year…it is also a new decade. A time to reset and refocus on all that lies ahead both in life and in business.

The chamber will hit the ground running this new year with a 20/20 vision for increasing and improving both business and streetscape infrastructure for our members. We will also be seeking more businesses who have and will continue to enjoy the benefits of the chamber’s efforts in the coming year to join us.

Please mark your calendars for our First Annual Holbrook Chamber Vega$ Night on Friday January 31st from 7-11 PM @ Trios in the Holbrook Country Club. We will be hosting a casino style evening with food, wine, beer and gambling for some great prizes. All of the proceeds raised will go to the benefit of the Holbrook Community.

Along with the annual fair, the chamber will seek to raise monies to not only continue to fund our landscape maintenance program with the Welcome to Holbrook wall area and median. we will also be seeking to purchase new holiday decorations for 2020. This year the chamber had several outlets removed on the utility poles due to PSEG replacing over 20 poles in 2019 with our hookups.

Thanks to Rob from RR Electric in Holbrook, we had some of the decorations working along with the lampposts. However, many of the lights were out this year and we are on a mission to not only fix that situation, we also intend to order more new decorations and outlets to really make the business district more festive in 2020. A special thanks goes out to the Holbrook Fire Department for installing and removing the decorations again this year. This is no easy task for Department Member and FD Business Liaison Neil Heffernan, however he and his Team answer the bell every year for the chamber and our community!

A special thank you to Chief Bodor and the Holbrook FD for delivering Santa to our Annual Tree Lighting. This year we had over 100 excited children as they all had a visit with the Jolly Man himself. Thank you to longtime chamber member Abundant Life Church for sending their lovely and talented choir again this year. The chamber would like to recognize the Holbrook FD Ladies Auxiliary for the delicious hot chocolate at both the Tree & Menorah Lightings. A warm thank you to Rabbi Jessica Rosenthal from B’nai Israel Reform Temple in Oakdale for presiding and leading us in our annual menorah lighting on the grounds of the Coste Insurance Agency.

The chamber would also like to recognize and thank all of the chamber members who sponsored our show-mobiles for the lightings. Without all of these fine and generous individuals, the chamber would not have been able to host such lovely holiday celebrations for our community.

In closing, the chamber wishes everyone all the best of health and prosperity as we ring in this new decade with a 20/20 vision of faith and hope that we can all come together for the good of our local community by loyally supporting one another.

Thank you for all your support through the years!!!
